In the heart of London during the early 1960s, a man named Jim Marshall, a drum teacher and music shop owner, noticed something: guitarists were desperate for louder amps with more grit. Rock music was getting louder, wilder, and more rebellious — but the available amplifiers just didn’t cut it.

Working with a team of engineers, Jim developed a prototype amp that had more power, more distortion, and — most importantly — attitude. In 1962, the first Marshall JTM45 was born, and soon, legends like Pete Townshend, Eric Clapton, and later Jimi Hendrix were turning their Marshall stacks to eleven.

Over time, the "Marshall sound" became synonymous with hard rock and heavy metal. Its raw, crunchy tone shaped the sounds of bands like Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, and Metallica. The image of towering Marshall stacks became as iconic as the music they helped create.

From humble beginnings in a small shop to dominating stages worldwide, Marshall didn't just build amplifiers — they amplified the sound of a generation.
